Day of Liberation and Renewal* National Holiday

The Council of Ministers in Suriname, declared February 25th, the day of the Revolution (1980) a national holiday as of 2011. February 25th was a public holiday from 1981 to 1987. On this day in 1980, a group of 16 junior National Army officers, including the current President, Desi Bouterse, overthrew the then government of Suriname.
